Una canzone assolutamente evocativa!

Oltre quelli qui sotto descritti, un altro fatto particolarmente assurdo legato al tema della canzone è stato quando Fran Healy in tour in solo a Roma (documentato nel video qui sotto).

Fran oltre le sue canzoni del fresco suo album da solista ripropone ovviamente anche i classici dei Travis. Verso la conclusione del concerto inizia a suonare "Why Does It Always Rain On Me" e nel mezzo dell'esibizione la sfortuna colpisce nuovamente, discostandosi dalle altre incredibili situazioni dove di norma iniziava a piovere sul palco (qui per impossibilità, eravamo al chiuso al compianto circolo degli artisti) e si manifesta con una clamorosa rottura di una corda della chitarra. 🙂

"Why Does It Always Rain on Me?" is a song by Scottish band Travis, released as the third single from their second studio album, The Man Who. The song became the group's international breakthrough single, receiving recognition around the world.

It was their first top-ten hit on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number ten in August 1999. The song also peaked within the top twenty in Australia and achieved moderate success in mainland Europe, North America, Ireland and New Zealand.

Fran Healy wrote the song while on holiday in Israel. He wanted to go somewhere sunny because in his hometown of Glasgow, Scotland it rained all the time. In an interview at the Live 8 concert, he explained that he was spending a short holiday in the southern vacation city of Eilat, Israel in the middle of the winter.

The city is known for its hot weather even during winter time, but surprisingly it began to rain for two days during his stay.

When Travis began to perform this song at the 1999 Glastonbury Festival, after being sunny for several hours, it began to rain exactly when the first line was sung.

The Man Who è il secondo studio album della indie rock band scozzese Travis ed è anche l'album che ha dato notorietà internazionale al gruppo.

È uscito il 24 maggio 1999 nel Regno Unito e qui si è rivelato essere quello di cui si sono vendute il maggior numero di copie, in quell'anno.

Il titolo dell'album deriva dal libro di Oliver Sacks The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat (L'uomo che scambiò sua moglie per un cappello).

Artist

I Travis sono un gruppo rock scozzese di Glasgow formatosi nel 1995. Il nome deriva dal protagonista del film Paris, Texas di Wim Wenders. La band ha un sound molto influenzato dalla british invasion, deve molto alle sonorità derivate dai Beatles e dalla scena Britpop degli anni Novanta.

Hanno vinto due volte il premio per il British album of the year ai BRIT Awards e, insieme agli Oasis, sono ritenuti i precursori di band quali Coldplay, Keane e Snow Patrol. Hanno pubblicato sette album, il primo dei quali è Good Feeling, del 1997. L'ultimo disco, Everything at Once, è del 2016.
