Mercutio – Back To Nowhere

Con “Back To Nowhere” i Mercutio sanno far emozionare. Usano suoni moderni, con poca distorsione, il che rende le chitarre più comprensibili. Il loro genere è molto vario, ma potrei definirlo un alternative hard rock con influenze elettroniche e, di tanto in tanto, si lasciano andare a leggere cavalcate di carattere più metal.

La title track inizia con sonorità elettroniche e con un piano. Approvo totalmente la scelta dei suoni, che sacrificano un impatto massiccio e definito, come richiederebbe il loro genere, in onore di una qualità ed una chiarezza impeccabile.

Nel disco si incontrano ottime linee tematiche ed evoluzioni tonali molto interessanti, che ricordano i lavori di Steven Wilson, il che mi fa credere che più di un membro abbia studiato la musica.

Mercutio are a four piece Rock band based in London.

Taking influence from Radiohead, Muse and Porcupine Tree, the guys wrote, recorded and toured together for several years in various bands before forming Mercutio in June 2011. The band earnt their spurs the old way, gigging on the underground and alternative music scene and playing rock venues and festivals throughout the UK and across Europe.

Mercutio recorded their debut album at Assault and Battery Studios in London with multi award winning producer Andy Wright (Jeff Beck, Simple Minds). Debut single ‘Back to Nowhere’ is mixed by 2014 Brit Award winner Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters and The Killers) and it was playlisted by Planet Rock Radio for a couple of month with second single Reasons to Erase.

The album was very well received critically by all the major music magazines included: Classic Rock, Prog, Metal Hammer and the singles "Anytime" and "Reasons to Erase" had been featured in two compilation albums enclosed on Prog Magazine.

The band are signed to Independent label DIVERGE Records run by co-composer and co-producer Gianluca Cucchiara, and backed by film producer Giovanna Romagnoli (Academy Award winner for Nuovo Cinema Paradiso).
