"C'est si bon" is a French popular song composed in 1947 by Henri Betti with the lyrics by André Hornez. The English lyrics were written in 1949 by Jerry Seelen. The song is also adapted in several languages.

Recordings

In February 1948, the publisher offered the song to Suzy Delair to sing it during the first Nice Jazz Festival. She sings the song on February 28 at the Hotel Negresco in a jam session called La Nuit de Nice where Louis Armstrong is present and loved the song. On June 26, 1950, he recorded the American version of the song with Sy Oliver and his Orchestra in New York City. When it was released, the disc was a worldwide success and the song was then taken up by the greatest international singers.

La versione originale fu eseguita dalla cantante belga-tedesca Angèle Durand, che raggiunse un ottimo successo in Belgio mentre in Germania fece altrettanto la versione in tedesco.

La canzone fu popolarizzata da Eartha Kitt nel 1954, nella versione cinematografica di New Faces of 1952, e da Johnny Desmond, che registrò il brano l'11 maggio 1949, e in quell'anno raggiunse la venticinquesima posizione sulla classifica Billboard; invece la versione di Kitt raggiunse l'undicesimo posto nella rivista Cash Box. Louis Armstrong e Yves Montand la eseguirono sia in inglese che in francese.

Louis Daniel Armstrong noto anche con il soprannome di Satchmo o Pops (New Orleans, 4 agosto 1901 – New York, 6 luglio 1971) è stato un trombettista e cantante statunitense.

Armstrong è stato uno tra i più famosi musicisti jazz del XX secolo, raggiungendo la fama inizialmente come trombettista, ma fu anche uno dei più importanti cantanti jazz, soprattutto verso la fine della carriera.

Viene considerato una delle più grandi e influenti personalità in campo musicale del '900, e le sue innovazioni interpretative hanno permesso alla musica jazz di evolversi ed espandersi, aiutandola a diventare un genere celebre in tutto il mondo.
