"Ashes" is the second single from English rock band Embrace's fourth studio album, Out of Nothing. This release was publicised by a fan campaign called G.A.T.N.O (Get Ashes to Number One). The song reached number 11. "Ashes" was released to American radio on March 1, 2005.

The B-side, "Flaming Red Hair", started life as a cover version of Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Another B-side, "How Come", was originally performed on Jo Whiley's BBC Radio 1 show.

The songs "Maybe I Wish", "Flaming Red Hair", and a live version of "How Come" are featured on the B-sides compilation Dry Kids: B-Sides 1997–2005.

"Ashes" was included on the soundtrack of the football video game FIFA 06.

On 14 August 2014, Reading F.C. fans chose "Ashes" as their official club anthem.

"Ashes" can be heard in the film Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017), where it is implied that Embrace are headlining the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury Festival.

Out of Nothing is the fourth studio album by English rock band Embrace. It was released on 13 September 2004 through Independiente Records. It went straight in at number one on the official UK charts, going double platinum, selling more than 600,000 copies in the UK, making it their best selling album and their most critically acclaimed since their debut album The Good Will Out. It was a much-anticipated release, as Embrace had not released any new material for three years.
