Opus III – It’s A Fine Day

Questa pensate che l'ho sempre scambiata per una canzone dei miti austriaci Opus... solo che in effetti non c'entrava assolutamente nulla con voce/musica.

Alla fine era abbastanza famosa negli anni '90, per quale motivo attualmente lo ignoro.

Menzione d'onore per la versione originale di una certa Jane... sentitela è inquietantissima 😀

Kirsty Hawkshaw

(Londra, 26 ottobre 1969) è una cantante britannica.

Kirsty è figlia del compositore britannico Alan Hawkshaw, mentre sua madre è tedesca. Dal 1992 al 1994 è stata la vocalist del gruppo di musica techno/house Opus III, che ha pubblicato due album e che ha avuto successo con il singolo It's a Fine Day (1992). Un sample di questo brano è anche inserito nel singolo Halcyon degli Orbital.

Dopo lo scioglimento degli Opus III, ha intrapreso una carriera solista che l'ha portata a collaborare con tantissimi produttori, musicisti e gruppi di musica elettronica e non solo: tra questi BT, Tiësto, Delerium, Rachid Taha, Ian Pooley, Hybrid, Mr. Sam, Judie Tzuke, Sleepthief e Ulrich Schnauss.

Opus III

was an English electronic music group who had success on the UK Singles Chart and on the U.S. Dance charts. The group consisted of vocalist Kirsty Hawkshaw and producers/musicians Kevin Dodds, Ian Munro and Nigel Walton. The group members promoted a strong environmental and feminist message through their lyrics, album liner notes and photo and video imagery.

It's a Fine Day

is a song written by English poet and musician Edward Barton. It was originally recorded a cappella in 1983 by Jane, and later by Opus III for whom it was a major international hit in 1992.

Also in 1992, the song was covered by Opus III, whose lead vocalist was Kirsty Hawkshaw. The two chief differences from Jane's original were that this version was not recorded a cappella but with a full instrumental accompaniment, and that it used only the first verse and chorus of the original song's lyrics.

This version reached number 5 in the UK charts, and number 1 on the US Hot Dance Club Play Chart. The song's video featured Hawkshaw (with her standout shaved head and bodysuit) performing and dancing against a backdrop of what is supposed to be a fine day.
