One shot degli anni 80 ma che probabilmente ricordavo per il sampling del 2003 del DJ italiano Room 5, insomma non male ma lasciata li nel vuoto R&B/disco dell'epoca 🙂 

"Get Down Saturday Night" is a song by American artist Oliver Cheatham, released in 1983 as the first single from his second album Saturday Night. That spring, the song reached number 37 on the US R&B chart., as well as reaching #38 on the UK Singles Chart.

The song was featured in the soundtrack for the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City as well as in the 2015 film Ex Machina.

Oliver Cheatham (February 24, 1948 – November 29, 2013) was an American R&B singer who is best remembered for his 1983 hit "Get Down Saturday Night". The song was also sampled on the 2003 single "Make Luv" by Italian DJ Room 5, which reached #1 on the UK charts.

Biografia

Incoraggiato a cantare da sua madre, ha partecipato per vari anni in diversi gruppi locali, come ad esempio The Young Sirs, Mad Dog And The Pups e Gaslight prima di pubblicare il primo singolo, "Hard Times" con la casa discografica Tier.

In seguito ha preso parte al gruppo, the Sins of Satan, che in seguito cambiò nome in Roundtrip ed in una fase immediatamente successiva prese nome e cognome di Cheatam e registrò due album.

In seguito Cheatham ha cantato come solista per la MCA Records. Cheatam ha lavorato con Al Hudson della band One Way sul suo primo album, The Boss.

Il suo primo successo arrivò nel 1983 con "Get Down Saturday Night", scritto da Cheatham e da Kevin McCord di One Way, che raggiunse il 37º posto della classifica Billboard R&B ed il 37° nella classifica britannica dei singoli. L'album, Saturday Night, prodotto da Al Perkins, fu rilasciato lo stesso anno.
