Guster - Satellite

Song

Satellite is the second single from Guster's 2006 album Ganging Up on the Sun. The song received support from U.S. alternative rock radio, but failed to chart on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. There was also a EP released April 10, 2007. The song is also featured in the 2007 film Martian Child. A stop motion video for the song, directed by Adam Bizanski, was released on February 2, 2007.

The single would go on to earn the band its first gold record in 2018.

Album

Ganging Up on the Sun is the fifth studio album by the rock band Guster. It was released on June 20, 2006. The first single, "One Man Wrecking Machine", was released in late 2005 and its follow-up, "Satellite", in March 2006. It is Guster's second studio album with Joe Pisapia, his first as a full member. The title comes from a line in the song "Manifest Destiny": "The moon and stars are ganging up on the sun".

The album is Guster's most successful release to date, entering the Billboard 200 albums chart at number 25, topping Keep It Together's entry at number 35 in 2003. It won Album of the Year (Major) at the Boston Music Awards in 2006.

Lyrics

Shining like a work of art
Hanging on a wall of stars
Are you what I think you are?

You're my satellite
You're riding with me tonight
Passenger side, lighting the sky
Always the first star that I find
You're my satellite

Elevator to the moon
Whistling our favorite tune
Trying to get a closer view

You're my satellite
You're riding with me tonight
Passenger side, lighting the sky
Always the first star that I find
You're my satellite

Maybe you will always be
Just a little out of reach

You're my satellite
You're riding with me tonight
Passenger side, lighting the sky
Always the first star that I find
You're my satellite (x2)

Testo

Brillante come un'opera d'arte
Appeso a un muro di stelle
Sei quello che penso tu sia?

Sei il mio satellite
Stasera viaggi con me
Lato passeggero, illuminando il cielo
Sempre la prima stella che trovo
Sei il mio satellite

Ascensore per la luna
Fischiettare la nostra melodia preferita
Cercando di vedere più da vicino

Sei il mio satellite
Stasera viaggi con me
Lato passeggero, illuminando il cielo
Sempre la prima stella che trovo
Sei il mio satellite

Forse sarai sempre
Solo un po' fuori portata

Sei il mio satellite
Stasera viaggi con me
Lato passeggero, illuminando il cielo
Sempre la prima stella che trovo
Sei il mio satellite (x2)
